Putting makeup in its place.

Melt-proof makeup
(and my excuse to put this picture up)

Toronto’s melting pot of cultures is to be celebrated year round; but a melting makeup in the middle of a summer heat wave is not.
Avoid a muddled mess with products that stick to their guns, and your skin.

1.

A full face of cream foundation in 38C? Skip it. Camouflage those dark undereye circles with CoverFX’s oil-free concealer, $27. Available at coverfx.com

2.

Give cheeks a wash of colour that will complement your heat-flushed skin. Multiple Tints from NARS, $46. Available at Sephora.

3.

Putting on a powder foundation instead of liquid is the No. 1 summertime tip from Lori Taylor, Smashbox’s lead makeup artist. Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder, Smashbox, $72. Available at Shoppers Drug Mart, Sephora.

4.

These creams were made for professionals working in hot, humid conditions. Rush hour in Toronto qualifies. Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams, $23. Available at select Bay stores.

5.

Stop your eyes from turning from girlie to goth in midday heat with long-wearing waterproof mascara. The Body Shop, $14.

6.

Reminiscent of those scented markers from your childhood, Joe Fresh Beauty Lip Stains ($6 each) keep the colour within the (lip) lines. (Select Loblaws, Superstores and Joe Fresh Style stores)
